On February 23, 2013, in light of political developments in the region of Sudan, Yale’s divestment policy was clarified to align with the policy of the U.S. and the international community to support the independence of South Sudan and to allow investment in companies doing business in South Sudan, even if those activities involve related, incidental transactions in Sudan, so long as those activities are licensed by OFAC.
